sophia szilagyi - nostalgia

ARTEN worked with Melbourne based artist Sophia Szilagyi on the framing and presentation of her latest body of work 'Nostalgia' shown at Port Jackson Press, Collingwood in April 2017. The exhibition comprised of a series of 9 works, presented in frames designed specifically for the body of work by ARTEN in collaboration with Sophia. A single oversized framed multi panel work also accompanied these works in the exhibition.

Making of the frames

Once the design had been finalised, special cutting knives were made for the machining of the custom profile, which was done in house at ARTEN.

frame design

Early on in the process of creating these prints, Sophia presented us with the opportunity to work on a custom frame design sympathetic to the work. After many design sketches and test profiles, the final design takes its inspiration from early Dutch picture frame design, with a contemporary edge.
